Blessed Are the Peacemakers
In the words of our beloved peacemaker, Pope Leo, “Too many people are suffering today, too many innocent people have been killed, and I believe someone must stand up and say that there is a better way.” Sadly, our Republican legislators are not standing up to show us a better way, so it is up to us.
We must follow the example of Hungary and reject overwhelmingly the destructive, crazed impulses of this administration. We must organize and mobilize to ensure a massive voter turnout in November!

CONTACT YOUR SENATORS
Amy Klobuchar: (202) 224-3244 klobuchar.senate.gov

First, I know that Congress is starting to put together a new reconciliation bill, to pass more funding for ICE, CBP, and Trump’s illegal war. The plan seems to be to pay for this by cutting Medicaid further. This is an absolutely terrible idea and a complete non-starter for me. I expect the Senator to oppose any more funding for ICE, CBP, or the Pentagon, and any more cuts to Medicaid. I’ll be watching this vote closely. Thanks.
Second, please support S. 4115, the BETS OFF Act, to regulate prediction markets and block insider trading. Political wagering on prediction market platforms can be easily abused, and restrictions need to be enacted to stop government insiders from manipulating political events for personal profit. Thanks.
CONTACT YOUR REPRESENTATIVE
Tom Emmer (202) 225-2331; (763) 241-6848 emmer.house.gov
First, please oppose a clean reauthorization of Section 702 of FISA. Section 702’s numerous loopholes allow for unwarranted government surveillance and can be easily manipulated at the expense of Americans’ civil liberties. The Congressmember should only support its extension with significant reforms.

Third, on April 14, you posted seven endorsements for Republican candidates in six states. How many constituent events have you held in MN-06 in 2026? Your Republican primary challenger held a town hall at Sgt. John Rice VFW Post 6316 in Blaine. Will you hold a town hall in MN-06 before the August 11 primary?

SHERBURNE COUNTY GOVERNMENT VIGIL
Over 100 immigrants are in Detention at the Sherburne County Government Center. Consider joining us!

Every Wednesday 3:30 – 4:15 Sidewalk next to Business Center Drive
-
Sherburne County Government Center
13880 Business Ctr Dr NW, Elk River, MN 55330
The Wright County jail is making space to hold 120 folks who have been incarcerated at the Sherburne County Jail. Because Sherburne is boarding detainees for ICE, they need more room. So, they are sending their non-ICE related arrests to WC because they make more money off of ICE detainees. Botton line: Wright County is making money off of ICE detainees as well because we are boarding for Sherburne County.

This training is designed for activists who want to use social media more strategically to spread progressive messages, counter misinformation, and reach people beyond our usual circles. First, we'll have a brief presentation and discussion breaking down how social media algorithms work, what makes posts more likely to travel, and how everyday engagement—liking, commenting, and sharing—can help amplify our content!
For the second part of the training, we'll do a guided activity where we'll learn how to get connected with various local Central Minensota progressive/left-leaning social media accounts to help create content, share ideas, or support online organizing efforts.
Registration is capped at the first 50 people, so be sure to sign up early!

Donate to Mother's Day Self-Care Kits!
In honor of Mother’s Day, one of our volunteers is putting together self-care kits to celebrate the resilient mothers we support through Immigrant Aid. Nina has created an Amazon wishlist for easy giving, but you’re also welcome to purchase items on your own to contribute (see list of desired items below). Nina, based in Otsego, can coordinate pickups or accept drop-offs—please reach out at 301-385-2388.
In a meaningful shift, the kits will be assembled by the mothers themselves, many of whom have expressed a desire to give back in gratitude.
Thank you for helping make this a special way to honor and empower them.
*Desired items: individually wrapped chocolates or other sweets, salty snacks (chips, nuts, etc.), 12oz coconut waters, small body and hand lotions, lip balms, hair and face masks, fabric headbands, journals, etc. Feel free to text me about other items. The goal is to keep things relatively small to fit in the gift bag.

I94 Billboard Update - 164,000 vehicles a day!
We rent the billboard jointly with Indivisible North Metro and Indivisible Twin Cities.
We've been using it to hold Tom Emmer accountable — rotating messages to match whatever atrocity the week brings — and to promote events like No Kings rallies. Some of our recent messages are shown below.
Here's the challenge: We need to raise money to keep it running through the midterms. And the cost just jumped from $1,200 to $2,000 for four weeks, now that we're in "election season."
Can you help? Every dollar keeps those eyes informed.

Mail a check to: WCI, PO Box 1410, Monticello, MN 55362, put billboard in the memo

What’s Next - May 1
Plan your participation in a day of economic disruption on May Day: No work. No school. No shopping.
We’re flexing our economic power on May 1, sending a message to Trump and his oligarch enablers: We refuse to do business as usual as you trample our rights, terrorize our communities, and conduct your war. Led by May Day Strong, this will be a day of mass refusal to engage with the American economic engine, featuring rallies, marches, and non-violent disruptions across the country (find an event near you here). Not everyone will be able to refuse work, school, or spending entirely, but it's vital that each of us does whatever we can do to show the regime that we don't just have numbers--we have economic leverage.
SHOP LOCAL AND SMALL BUSINESSES ONLY! NO SHOPPING AT LARGE CORPORATE BUSINESSES!
