I am against HR 2616. On Tuesday, May 19, the U.S. House passed HR 2616, the "Stopping Indoctrination and Protecting Kids Act". The bill would hand the Trump administration enormous leverage to strip federal funding from any school that “teaches or advances concepts” related to transgender people, codifying into federal law the anti-trans definitions from Trump's executive order 14168, "Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism." It would also require public schools to forcibly out transgender students to their parents before using their pronouns or chosen names.
Please vote “NO’ vote on this legislation.

The Department of Justice has established a $1.776 billion “Anti-Weaponization Fund” drawn from the Treasury Judgment Fund. Do you, as House Majority Whip, support the fund as structured?

Acting Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche told a Senate subcommittee that “anybody in this country can apply,” and the administration has not ruled out payments to people convicted of assaulting Capitol Police officers on January 6. Do you believe anyone convicted of assaulting a police officer that day should be eligible for taxpayer compensation?

On Fox Business this week you said Minnesota fraud “could be as high as nine billion dollars.” The charges to date total roughly $340 million — about $250 million in the Feeding Our Future case and $90 million announced Thursday — and the Justice Department official overseeing the cases said the full amount has not been tallied. What is the basis for the nine-billion figure when you state it as fact?

On Thursday, the House Appropriations Committee released its 2027 spending bill for the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies. Buried deep in this document is a provision that would hand two federal mineral leases over to Twin Metals. These leases would bring Twin Metals one step closer to opening a toxic copper-sulfide mine near the Boundary Waters.
The public would have no chance to weigh-in, and it would block any judge from reviewing this give away.
Take a moment to tell Governor Walz (651-201-3400) to direct the DNR to exercise their legal authority and cancel Twin Metals’ state mineral lease. Find more information here.

The Wright County jail is making space to hold 120 folks who have been incarcerated at the Sherburne County Jail. Because Sherburne is boarding detainees for ICE, they need more room. So, they are sending their non-ICE related arrests to WC because they make more money off of ICE detainees. Botton line: Wright County is making money off of ICE detainees as well because we are boarding for Sherburne County.

IN THE HISTORY OF THE DISTRICT
Otsego Weekend of Action w/ Leah, Joey, and Keenan!
June 7 (Sunday) at 10 am OR 2 pm at Prairie Park in Otsego
Come join the SD30 DFL for a day of door knocking! Our hope is to have the largest doorknock in the history of the district, and if we get 100 people signed up to knock we'll be able to knock the entire cities of Otsego, St. Michael, and Elk River in one day! We're already almost half way to that goal. Can you join us?
We'll be knocking doors across Otsego on Sunday, June 7th to help get the word out about our three local DFL-endorsed candidates, Joey Smyth (HD 30A), Keenan Gentry (HD 30B), and Leah Temple (SD 30). These conversations are crucial as we start to build capacity for our BLUE WAVE this November!
A brief (~20 min) training is provided and new canvassers will always be paired with someone more experienced, so don't fear if you've never knocked doors before! We also have water, sunscreen, and snacks on hand. Door knocking is typically a 1.5-2 hour commitment.
It may seem silly, but studies have shown that knocking on doors and meeting voters directly is one of the most effective ways to ensure that people stay engaged in their communities and vote in elections. We hope to see you there!

We rent the billboard jointly with Indivisible North Metro and Indivisible Twin Cities. We've been using it to hold Tom Emmer accountable — rotating messages to match whatever atrocity the week brings — and to promote events like No Kings rallies. Some of our recent messages are shown below.
Here's the challenge: We need to raise money to keep it running through the midterms. And the cost just jumped from $1,200 to $2,000 for four weeks, now that we're in "election season."

Over at her Substack, the cartoonist and writer Aubrey Hirsch took a look at Donald Trump’s $1.8 billion taxpayer-funded “anti-weaponization” slush-fund and did something that should make every Republican in Washington squirm. She started doing the math. What if, she asked, we put that money toward something other than enriching Trump, his family, and the mob he summoned to the Capitol on January 6th, 2021?
Her list is devastating. With that $1.776 billion we could, she writes, replace 150,000 lead pipes in hundreds of communities, build 10,000 new affordable housing units, establish hundreds of community-owned grocery stores in food deserts, fully fund 70 community mental health clinics for a decade, support tens of thousands of foster youth aging out of care, erase all the school lunch debt in this country for the next nine years, or pay the salaries of 2,500 new teachers for ten years.
